Two Craegmoor services in Norfolk which support people with learning disabilities have been rated as “Excellent” by the health and social care regulator for England, the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The Kalmia & Mallow service in Watton and The Oaks & Woodcroft service in Mattishall received the rating – the highest that can be awarded by the Commission – after being praised for their “exceptionally well completed Person-Centred Plans”.

The rating by the CQC is more good news for The Oaks & Woodcroft after Roger Hills, who lives at the service , won three gold medals in cycling at this year’s Special Olympics National Summer Games in Leicester at the end of July.

The news also represents further success for Craegmoor, who provide support to older people and people with learning disabilities and mental illnesses across the country, after the company invested heavily in a “quality development programme”, which saw a focus on ensuring the best possible outcomes for those who use the company’s services and the creation of a Quality Development Team.

Karen Bash, Home Manager at The Oaks & Woodcroft, said today:

The staff at both services work so hard everyday to support the people who use Craegmoor’s services to have control over their own lives. “That’s what motivates team members to give it their all and it’s brilliant and really rewarding to see their determination recognised by the CQC ”.

Sarah Hughes, Craegmoor’s Divisional Managing Director - Specialist Division, South, said today:

It’s fantastic that the dedication and passion shown by staff for supporting people to live independent and individual lifestyles has been recognised by the CQC. “Craegmoor is committed to ensuring excellent outcomes for the people who use our services and we are really proud of our colleagues in Norfolk who have shown their real commitment to that.
