CQC Star Rating
Arthur House is a small service which can support up to 15 individuals. We also offer specialist dementia care for 4 people and we can care for people with mobility needs.
Overview of the service
We follow a person centred approach to all care planning and everyone has their own individual plan of care. Within the service we provide 24 hour care and there are always two members of staff at the service and to provide continuity of care we have a full handover at every shift change. At our last inspection we retained our grading of Excellent ( 3 stars ) and have a 5 star (excellent) rating from the latest visit from the EHO.
What it's like to live here
The age range of the people living here varies from 79 to 105. We offer support tailored to the individual's needs.
Some of the daily actiivities include: accompanying someone shopping or using a wheelchair to take someone to the local park. We encourage the gardeners amongst us to add their knowledge and skill to improve our patio garden with its raised beds designed by a former resident to enable people to garden without having to bend.
Surroundings
Arthur House is beautifully situated within the leafy green area of Wimbledon Park, the Park backs onto the All England Tennis club and has a boating lake, Tennis courts and the pavilion. Local shops are within very easy walking distance and Wimbledon Park train station is under a minute away with trains to Wimbledon and to the city.
There are 2 churches , Roman Catholic and Church of England and we have regular visits from both churches and father comes into the home to give communion. Shops include several restaurants and coffee shops, hairdressers and a gentleman’s barbers, a beautician, dentist and our dispensing chemist.
Pupils from the primary school and girls high school both visit the home. There is a doctors surgery two minutes walk away and they regularly visit the home.
Service Facilities
The home was built as a family home around the 1900’s with the later addition of an extension tastefully designed to blend in with the main part of the building. We are fully accessible to people who use a wheelchair and there is a passenger lift.
There are 10 bedrooms, 7 on the first floor and 3 on the ground floor. We have a patio garden laid out with raised beds, a seating area and a small water feature. There is a smaller garden to the side and front of the home both with seasonal flowers.
We have an annual Garden Party with a BBQ and entertainment. Our cook caters for all dietary requirements. Fresh food is cooked in the kitchen every day and produce is freshly delivered by the fishmonger, green grocer, dairy and our butcher is across the road.
