Fernlea is a service for ten people with learning difficulties, who additionally, may require support arising from sensory, dietary and mental illnesses. We endeavour to assess what support individuals require and provide a service that sets out to meet their physical, psychological, social and emotional needs on a personalised basis. We believe that each person has a right to express their emotions and live their lives in a safe and open environment.


What it's like to live here

Fernlea provides a personalised day service involving local amenities such as Brockenhurst Further Education College, leisure centres, libraries and other community facilities to provide individuals with meaningful activities. These activities include swimming, adult literacy groups, drama, advocacy groups, cooking, learning for independence, keep fit, shopping, Gateway Club, music, sports, theatre and cinema trips and social outings to name but a few.


Surroundings

Located in Sway Road, Brockenhurst, in the heart of the New Forest, the service is within walking distance of the village centre, the open forest and local transport connections such as the train station and bus stops. Southampton and Bournemouth are within easy travel distance.


Service facilities

Fernlea is a detached Edwardian family house that has been adapted into twelve single bedrooms, with en-suite facilities, a large lounge, conservatory a separate dining room, three further bathrooms, laundry facilities and a large kitchen. It has a well-established garden to the rear and ample off-street parking. At Fernlea, we provide a living and working environment that has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Individuals are encouraged to personalise their own space and are involved in the decoration and furnishing of the service.
