Anchor House Care Home provides quality care, based on respect for the residents, their right to make choices, maintain dignity and receive the best of care to suit individual needs. The Home offers homely accommodation for 9 adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. The Home is situated in the seaside resort of Whitby with easy access to local shops and amenities.

The Home

Anchor House Care Home offers a warm and homely environment with opportunities for residents to extend and enhance the quality of their day-to-day living. The Home has been tastefully decorated throughout with individual décor in each bedroom to meet the needs of each resident. We offer accommodation to 9 residents with learning disabilities and mental health needs. The Home has a lounge area, dining room, kitchen, utility room and a tranquil garden, which offers a relaxing and quiet retreat. A key philosophy is that our residents maintain as much independence as possible and through the support and care can achieve their full potential in life.

The Care

Anchor House promotes Craegmoor’s values and standards by ensuring that each resident is treated with respect and dignity and enabled to lead a normal life within the community. Staff are committed to providing quality care focused on the needs of the residents. Our staff ensure a highly supportive framework of care in which our residents can achieve their potential within a safe environment. Each resident has an individual care package, specifically planned to reflect his or her personal needs and choices. A key worker is assigned to each resident ensuring a holistic approach to individual care and daily fulfilment. We work closely with local services such as the Community Learning Disability Team, Community Nurses, Psychologists, local health centres and other health care services.

The Facilities

Each resident has an individual activity chart. The residents enjoy swimming, bowling, trips to the cinema, outings to pubs and shopping. We offer a varied programme, which includes college classes, in-house tutoring, local placements, and pottery. We also arrange holidays in the UK or abroad to sunny destinations. One-to-one support is provided where required and all activities are arranged to meet the resident’s individual needs. There is ongoing assessment of the resident’s needs and essential lifestyle plans are reviewed and monitored each month.

Activity Co-ordinator Yes Care plan for each resident which identifies a full activities programme including swimming, bowling, cinema, shopping trips, holidays.
Specific Services Yes In-house laundry service, hairdresser and other local facilities used as required. All dietary requirements catered for.
Additional Services Yes Sessions on developing daily living skills, basic education, residents attend local work placements.
