How to find us

Longhouse is a 3 bedded home focusing on the care of individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This spacious unit is located in a quiet rural setting near the village of Creigiau, approximately 12 miles from Cardiff.

The Home

Longhouse is a converted barn with a conservatory situated on farmland, with garden and scenic views. The downstairs area of the house has a large open plan feel and ambience. There is ample car parking space, and immediate access to country walks and activities. The home benefits from full treatment plans prescribed by the multi-disciplinary team and each individual has a primary nurse and key worker.

The Care

Specialist staff are skilled in communication methods for individuals on the autistic spectrum with the triad or impairments. Advocacy services are available either on request, or via IMCA advocates as required for significant moves or medical interventions. Longhouse liaises with families, community organisations, social services departments and purchasing authorities to support Person Centred Care Planning, and ensures full account is taken of social, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of all individuals.

The Facilities

Longhouse is within reasonable walking distance of the village of Creigiau and enjoys the benefits of such a rural setting in south Wales. Unit based therapy may consist of 1:1 or group interventions depending on the individual's needs and ability to function in social situations. Interventions are adjusted to need, development, potential and motivation, using both verbal and non-verbal interactions. Most programmes are based on TEACCH principles in order to provide individuals with a sense of security and thus keeping anxiety levels to a minimum.
